Outdoor Ministry

Outdoor Ministry Team

We work to provide outdoor ministry opportunities for youth and  adults, working in partnership with existing UCC and other ecumenical sites in New England.

The First Congregational in Essex Junction celebrated their annual Outdoor Ministry worship service on February 19, 2017. This year they combined our Children & Youth Sunday with Outdoor Ministry Sunday.  Our children and youth lead our worship service with a welcome to all, call to worship, opening prayer, reading scripture, taking the offering, giving the benediction and our Joyful Noise children's group sang the Horton Center Style version of Kumbaya.  Our praise band lead us in outdoor ministry songs for our hymns and a special offering was taken for VT UCC Outdoor Ministry.  This offering that totaled $777 will go towards VT OM program costs and support scholarships.  Our CE committee graciously volunteered and made many different styles of smores for us to enjoy during our fellowship time after worship.  In previous years our special offering has stayed in house and used for scholarship money to help send kid and youth here at First Church for a week of camp.  I hope your church will consider having a special worship service for Outdoor Ministries and maybe even a special offering for scholarship for some of your kids or to send to the VT Conference to help support all kids and youth in VT to enjoy a faith filled week in God's outdoors.

Peace & Blessings,

Laurie Chipman

CE Director at First Congregational Church, Essex Junction

This could be the best summer of your life!

Working at summer camp is more than just a fun way to spend a summer outdoors.  You'll be part of an intentional community serving the campers, counselors, and Deans of Horton Center.  You'll meet incredible people, learn new skills (everything from leading group challenges to cooking to driving a tractor), and most importantly, create a transformative community for all on Pine Mountain.

We're looking for energetic, silly but safe applicants who love children and working hard.  This could be the best summer of your life!  For more information regarding specific position and the application, click here . Questions?  Contact Rev. Leslie Chatfield, Acting Director, at lchatfield@nhcucc.org.
